To all of my friends and watchers, I just wanted to let you know that I may be offline from tomorrow until whenever due to the impending approach of Hurricane Matthew which is passing through the Caribbean and towards the Bahama Islands as I type this.

It is a very large and powerful category 3 hurricane with wind gusts up to 125 miles per hour and sustained winds of around 110 MPH. I have already made preparations as much as I could since the storm's path has shifted from the northwest more towards the east. That means that Florida could feel the effects of tropical storm force winds up to 73 MPH but if it increases in strength by tomorrow morning, we could get wind speeds in excess of 75 MPH.

I'll be fine but I'm a bit concerned about the mobile home I've
been renting since mid-April. The nice Canadian lady who rented it to me is depending on me (more or less) to keep it safely secured. I put up the storm shutters on the windows yesterday evening as well as moved all of the patio furniture to behind the mobile home in an effort to prevent them from blowing away.

That's my main concern as I've been through
several hurricanes growing up in New Jersey when I was younger and one category 5 here in Florida... Hurricane Wilma back in 2005 - that was a really bad one which made actual landfall. The majority of the devastation was caused by wind gusts of up to 200 miles per hour.

This one (Matthew) seems to have more rain and winds as of right now around 110 mile per hour which just passed Cuba and has Florida in its sight. I am praying for the best, of course.

You live in Florida? I do too close to Disney. I actually work at Disney and was forced evacuate early during part of my shift. I was not allowed to work next day. Luckily nether Disney nether my home was hit from storm. I'm safe. I hope you are too!
